A multipurpose cleaner is the easiest second product to add to a soap line, because most of the materials are already in your store. The interesting version is the concentrate.
Surface safety
A strongly alkaline cleaner will dull polished terrazzo, mark aluminium and strip floor polish. Most Kenyan offices and homes have terrazzo, tile or vinyl, so a mildly alkaline product around pH 9 to 10 covers nearly everything safely. Save the aggressive alkaline degreaser for kitchens and workshops, and sell it as a separate product with its own label.
Why butyl glycol earns its place
Water and surfactant will wet a greasy floor but not dissolve the film. Butyl glycol does, which is the difference between a floor that looks clean when wet and one that looks clean when dry. It is not expensive at the levels used.
The concentrate argument
Sell a cleaning contractor a 20 litre drum of ready-to-use cleaner and you have sold them 19 litres of water and a delivery charge. Sell the same drum at four times strength and they make 80 litres on site for the same freight. They save money, you sell a higher-value drum, and everyone stops paying to move water around Nairobi.
The one thing you must supply with it is a dosing measure. Without one, cleaners will pour by eye, use it at four times the rate, and conclude the product is expensive.
Scented floor cleaner as a retail line
In the retail market, fragrance sells this product almost entirely. Lemon and pine dominate, lavender does well in higher-income estates. Keep the colour consistent batch to batch, customers notice a shade change and read it as a change in the product.
