The honest job of a filler
Every washing powder on a Kenyan shelf contains a filler, and in most of them it is sodium sulphate. It is not inert marketing weight: it carries and separates the active particles so the powder pours instead of caking, it dissolves fast and completely so nothing is left in the drum, and it lets you hit a price point the market will actually pay.
Inclusion
Typical laundry powder runs 30 to 60% sodium sulphate. Economy grades go higher, premium concentrates go lower. It is also used as a levelling agent in textile dyeing and in glass manufacture.
Quality matters more than people expect
Cheap sodium sulphate carrying iron contamination will yellow a white powder over a few months in store, and will spot fabric in the wash. We supply detergent-grade material with a low iron specification.
Storage
Keep dry. Sodium sulphate takes up water readily and a damp bag will set into a solid block.
