Why the grade matters
Technical peroxide contains stabilisers such as phosphates and tin compounds that are perfectly acceptable in a textile bath and completely unacceptable in a milk packaging line. Food grade 35% is produced and certified without them, which is why aseptic carton fillers, dairy plants and beverage bottlers specify it and will not accept a substitute.
Applications
Sterilising aseptic packaging film and carton surfaces, CIP sanitising of dairy and juice lines, bottle and cap sterilisation, sprout and produce wash water treatment, and controlled-dose water treatment where no chemical residue is permitted.
Dilution and dosing
Surface sterilisation typically runs 1 to 3%. Aseptic filler baths are usually set at 30 to 35% at elevated temperature, follow the equipment manufacturer specification exactly rather than a general guide. Prepare working dilutions fresh each shift using clean, dedicated plastic equipment.
Documentation
A certificate of analysis and a food grade declaration are supplied with every delivery, along with the SDS. Auditors ask for both, so keep them with your batch records.
